Jonas Graymalkin was the only child born to Charles and Marcia Graymalkin. His family lived on the land where the Xavier Institute would eventually be built. Jonas was 16 years old when his father caught him in the barn with another boy, experimenting with their homosexuality; calling him an abomination, his father beat Jonas unconscious and cursed him and his mother's womb for bearing him. His father was so consumed with disgust he buried Jonas alive. Completely cut off from light, his mutant powers activated, and he fell into a state of suspended animation where he remained for 200 years--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Graymalkin appeared in Young X-Men #1 which lasted about 12 issues. Since then he has made sporadic appearances through the X-Men titles, but hasn't been used effectively since he first appeared. Hopefully that will change in the future. He came out of his suspended animation when the X-Men's home in New York was destroyed in battle , allowing his freedom. It has also been made aware that he is a distant relative of Professor X.
